How to Use CardMap to Find Stores, Vending Machines and TCG Events
A practical walkthrough of CardMap - the map and directory, filtering by type and game, vending machines and events, and planning a multi-stop trip with CardHunt.
CardMap is a community directory of trading card stores, vending machines, events and grading drop-offs across Australia and New Zealand. This guide walks through the main features so you can find what you want fast and plan a good day of card hunting.
The map and the directory
There are two ways to explore, and they share the same listings:
- The map plots listings as pins so you can see everything in an area at a glance. Tap a pin to open its listing, with the address and the games it carries, and get directions.
- The directory browses the same places by country, state or region, and suburb - good when you know where you are looking.
You can open the map from the "Map" link in the top navigation, and the directory from the "Locations" link.
Searching and filtering
On the home page you can search, and use the filters to narrow things down:
- "Find listings near me" sorts the directory by distance from your current location.
- "Browse by state" and the suburb options narrow to your area.
- The "Show me" type filters let you focus on stores, vending machines, events and more.
- The game filters let you focus on the game you collect.
Finding vending machines
Card vending machines are listed as their own type, so you can go straight to them. This is handy for grabbing a pack while you are out, without a trip to a dedicated store.
Finding events and tournaments
Card shows, tournaments and meetups are listed as events, and past events drop off automatically so the list stays current. Events are the best way to find cards, meet other collectors and get into organised play.
Planning a trip with CardHunt
CardHunt is CardMap's multi-stop route planner. If you want to visit several shops or machines in one trip, add them as stops using "Add to CardHunt" on a listing, and CardMap builds a route with travel times so you can cover more ground efficiently. It is ideal for a weekend of hunting or exploring a new area.
Adding and correcting listings
CardMap is community-maintained. If a store, machine or event is missing, you can submit it with "Submit a listing". If you spot something out of date, you can report it so it can be fixed. This keeps the directory accurate for everyone - and because details can change, it is still worth confirming hours or event nights with the venue before a special trip.
Guides and the directory, together
These guides pair with the live directory: the guides explain the hobby, and the directory shows you the real places near you. Wherever a guide mentions finding a store, machine or event, it links straight into the directory so you can act on it.
That is the whole app in a nutshell: search or browse to find places, filter to what you want, and use CardHunt to plan a trip. Jump in and find what is near you.
Open the directory and find stores, vending machines and events near you.
