These terms set out the basis on which you may use the CardMap directory.CardMap is operated by an Australian sole trader. The New Zealand view below highlights the rights New Zealand consumers retain under New Zealand law.

1. About CardMap

CardMap is a service operated by Nicola O'Connell as a sole trader (ABN 69 645 585 412) (in this policy: "CardMap", "we", "us"). CardMap is an independent directory of locations across Australia and New ZealandNew Zealand and Australia where trading cards are sold. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any retailer, publisher, manufacturer, or trademark holder listed.

2. Information accuracy

Listings are compiled from publicly available information. Stock, hours, pricing, and availability change frequently and without notice. Information on this site is provided "as is" for general guidance only. Always confirm details directly with the venue before travelling.

3. No warranty

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we make no representation or warranty about the accuracy, completeness, or currency of any listing. Your use of the site is at your own risk.

4. Consumer law

Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts, or modifies any rights you have under the Australian Consumer Law that cannot be lawfully excluded. If you are a consumer in New Zealand, nothing in these terms excludes, restricts, or modifies any rights you have under the New Zealand Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 or the Fair Trading Act 1986 that cannot lawfully be excluded.

5. Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, our liability for any loss or damage arising from your use of CardMap is limited to AU$100NZ$100. We are not liable for indirect, consequential, or special losses.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to scrape, automate, or bulk-extract data from CardMap. You agree not to use the site to harass, defame, or mislead others.

7. User submissions, content licence & accounts

7.1 Your warranties. By submitting a listing, photo, review, or any other content ("User Content"), you warrant that it is accurate to the best of your knowledge, that you own it or have the right to provide it, that it does not infringe any third party's rights, and that it is not defamatory, misleading, or unlawful. You indemnify CardMap against any claim arising from your User Content.

7.2 Content licence. You retain ownership of your User Content. By submitting it you grant CardMap a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence to host, store, reproduce, adapt (for formatting/moderation), and display that content within the directory and its promotion. This licence ends when the content is removed, except for reasonable backup copies and where we must retain records for legal reasons.

7.3 Moderation. All submissions and claims are reviewed by a human before publication. We may edit for accuracy or formatting, decline, or remove any User Content at our discretion, particularly where it appears inaccurate, promotional, abusive, or unlawful. Publication is not an endorsement.

7.4 Accounts. If account features are offered, you must provide accurate registration details, keep your credentials secure, are responsible for activity under your account, and must be at least 16 years old (or have parent/guardian consent). We may suspend or close accounts that breach these terms. You may close your account and request deletion of associated personal information at any time, subject to records we must retain by law.

7.5 Reviews & factual claims. If review features are offered, reviews must reflect genuine experience and be honest and fair. Allegations of fact about a business (for example that a retailer sold counterfeit goods) carry legal risk for the author under Australian defamation law and the Australian Consumer LawNew Zealand defamation law (the Defamation Act 1992) and the Fair Trading Act 1986. Post only what you genuinely believe and can support; you - not CardMap - are responsible for content you post.

8. Counterfeit and authenticity warning

Counterfeit trading cards are a real and growing concern in AustraliaNew Zealand. Reports have surfaced of unbranded or unverified vending machines dispensing fake Pokémon and other TCG products, particularly in pop-up retail and unregulated outlets. CardMap cannot inspect, verify, or guarantee the authenticity of any product sold by any operator listed in this directory.

To reduce your risk:

Prefer vending machines operated by recognised brands (e.g. Pop Attack, Card Bot) that source from authorised distributors.
Buy sealed product from authorised retailers - major chains, dedicated game stores, and established online retailers listed in this directory.
Inspect cards for obvious signs of counterfeit: poor print quality, incorrect colour saturation, fuzzy or pixelated text, incorrect cardstock thickness or "feel", missing holographic elements, misaligned print.
Be sceptical of unusually low prices on rare or chase cards - if it seems too good to be true, it usually is.
For high-value cards, consider purchasing only from sellers offering authenticity guarantees or graded slabs from reputable services (PSA®, Beckett, CGC).

If you believe you have purchased counterfeit cards, report it to the operator, to the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) via scamwatch.gov.authe Commerce Commission (comcom.govt.nz) or Consumer Protection (consumerprotection.govt.nz), and to the trade mark owner. You can also - we'll log it against the listing for moderation review and (with your permission) pass relevant details to the operator and any relevant regulator. CardMap accepts no liability for purchases made at any listed location.

9. Intellectual property and trade marks

All trade marks, registered trade marks, brand names, characters, and logos referenced on CardMap remain the property of their respective owners. CardMap's use of brand names is purely descriptive - to identify retailers, products, and games covered by listings - and does not imply any sponsorship, endorsement, partnership, or affiliation.

Trade marks acknowledged include but are not limited to:

This policy is written to align with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the 13 Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).For New Zealand users this policy should be read alongside the Privacy Act 2020 (NZ) and the 13 Information Privacy Principles (IPPs).

Operated by Nicola O'Connell (sole trader) · ABN 69 645 585 412 · Effective: 2026 · This policy explains how we handle personal information under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth)Privacy Act 2020 (NZ).

1. Who we are (APP 1 - open and transparent management)

CardMap is operated by Nicola O'Connell as a sole trader (ABN 69 645 585 412) (in this policy: "CardMap", "we", "us"). CardMap operates the cardmap.com.au directory. We are the entity responsible for personal information collected through this service. Our Privacy Officer can be reached at hello@cardmap.com.au.

2. Collection notice (APP 3 & APP 5 - what we collect and why) - what we collect and why

We collect personal information directly from you when you choose to provide it, and automatically as you use the site:

Submission & claim forms: your name, email address, and (for retailer claims) business name and ABN. Providing this is voluntary, but a submission or claim cannot be processed without it.
Account information (if/when accounts launch): email address, display name, and a password (stored only as a salted hash - we never see your plaintext password).
Technical data: IP address, device and browser type, and pages viewed, collected automatically to operate and secure the service.
Approximate location: only if you explicitly grant browser permission, and only used to sort listings by distance. It is never stored on our servers.
Photos (optional): if you attach a photo to a submission, report or claim, your browser automatically re-encodes it before it leaves the page. This re-encoding strips embedded metadata - including any EXIF GPS coordinates, camera make/model and timestamps - so location and device data inside the original file are removed and not transmitted. Please only submit photos of storefronts, signage or products, not identifiable people (and never images of children).
On-device data: your saved listings, follows, reviews, CardHunt routes, preferences and consent choices are stored locally in your own browser (using your device's local storage), not on our servers. We cannot see or access this data remotely; clearing your browser data removes it.

Purposes of collection (APP 3): to operate the directory, process and moderate submissions and claims, sort by distance, prevent abuse and fraud, respond to enquiries, and improve the service. We will not use your information for any unrelated purpose without your consent. We do not collect sensitive information (APP 3.3) and ask that you do not include it in free-text fields.

If you do not provide requested information, we may be unable to process your submission, claim, or enquiry.

How submissions reach us: when you submit a listing or correction, the details (including the name and email you provide) are sent to our team by email so a person can review and verify them. A copy is also kept in your own browser as your in-app record.

3. We don't use information for direct marketing (APP 7)

We do not use your personal information for direct marketing and do not sell or rent contact lists. If this ever changes you will be given a clear, functional opt-out and this policy will be updated first.

4. Disclosure & overseas recipients (APP 6 & APP 8)

We do not sell your personal information. We disclose limited data only to service providers who help us run the service:

Hosting & infrastructure - to serve the site.
Analytics - Microsoft Clarity, which records interactions such as taps, scrolls and mouse movement (e.g. heatmaps and session insights) to help us improve the site. Loads after you accept the cookie banner; you can withdraw consent anytime via Cookie settings; no sale of data; no advertising profiles.
Payments (retailers only) - Stripe processes any paid retailer plans. Stripe handles card data directly; CardMap never sees or stores full card numbers.

Overseas disclosure (APP 8): some providers (including Stripe) may store or process data outside AustraliaAustralia and New Zealand, including in the United States and the European Union. Where this occurs we take reasonable steps to ensure the recipient handles your information consistently with the APPsthis policy and applicable privacy law. See also "Data residency" below.

5. Data residency

CardMap's own directory data and submission records are hosted on infrastructure located in Australia. The limited exceptions are third-party processors named above (notably Stripe for retailer payments), which may process data overseas. We will state clearly in this policy if our primary hosting location ever changes.

6. Your rights - access & correction (APP 12 & APP 13)

You may request access to the personal information we hold about you, and ask us to correct it if it is inaccurate, out of date, or incomplete. Email hello@cardmap.com.au. We will respond within a reasonable period (ordinarily within 30 days) and will not charge for making a request. If we refuse access or correction we will explain why in writing and how to complain.

You may also ask us to delete personal information where we are not required to retain it.

7. How long we keep information (retention)

We keep personal information only as long as we need it for the purpose it was collected, then delete it:

Submission & correction emails: the name and email you provide are retained while we review and verify the listing, and for a reasonable period afterward to handle follow-up or re-verification - after which we delete them. We do not publish your name or email; submitter contact details are kept separately from the public listing.
Photos: retained (in metadata-stripped form) for as long as the associated listing is displayed; removed if the listing is removed or you ask us to take the image down.
Retailer claim details: retained for the life of the claimed listing and as needed to evidence the claim; deleted on request once the claim ends.
On-device data: persists in your own browser until you clear it or use the in-app reset; we hold no copy and impose no server-side retention.
Analytics data (if/when enabled with your consent): retained only for the period set by Microsoft Clarity (our analytics provider), then aggregated or deleted.

8. Data breach response (Notifiable Data Breaches scheme) (Notifiable Privacy Breach scheme)

We maintain a data-breach response plan. If we suffer an eligible data breach that is likely to result in serious harm, we will contain and assess the breach promptly, notify the affected individuals, and set out the steps you can take in response. In line with Part IIIC of the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), we will also notify the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) where the breach is an eligible data breach. In line with the Privacy Act 2020 (NZ), we will also notify the Office of the Privacy Commissioner (OPC) where the breach is a notifiable privacy breach that has caused, or is likely to cause, serious harm.

9. Children & young people

Trading card games have a young audience. The directory itself is general information and is safe for all ages. However, account creation, submissions, and claims are intended for users aged 16 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal information from a child under 16 without the consent of a parent or guardian. If you believe we hold information about a child under 16 collected without consent, contact hello@cardmap.com.au and we will delete it. We do not knowingly direct marketing or profiling at minors.

10. Cookies, local storage & analytics consent

CardMap stores your preferences and activity (saved listings, follows, recently viewed, CardHunt routes, and your consent choice) in your browser's local storage on your own device - not in tracking cookies, and never on our servers. This essential, functional storage is what makes the directory work for you; it isn't used to track you across other sites.

On your first visit we show a banner explaining that CardMap uses cookies and analytics. Analytics load after you accept via the banner, and by continuing to use the site you accept our use of cookies. We use Microsoft Clarity, a product-analytics tool that helps us see how the directory is used (for example, aggregated heatmaps and session insights showing which areas people tap and where they get stuck). To do this, Clarity sets cookies and records interactions such as taps, scrolls and mouse movement; it may capture page content, but we do not use this analytics data to build advertising profiles or to target ads, and we do not sell your data. Clarity is provided by Microsoft and its use is subject to the Microsoft Privacy Statement. You can withdraw your consent at any time using the "Cookie settings" button in this Privacy policy; withdrawing stops Clarity from loading on subsequent visits.

Advertising. CardMap may display ads served by Google AdSense to help keep the directory free. When ads are enabled, Google and its partners may set advertising cookies and use device identifiers to serve and measure ads, and (where applicable) to personalise them. These advertising cookies load only after you accept analytics & advertising cookies via the banner - never automatically - and never load while you have not consented or have withdrawn consent. Google's use of advertising cookies is governed by Google's Advertising policies; you can also manage ad personalisation in your Google Ad settings. Withdrawing consent via "Cookie settings" below stops advertising cookies from loading on future visits.

- withdraw your analytics consent at any time. This stops Clarity loading on future visits.

11. Security (APP 11) (IPP 5)

We take reasonable technical and organisational steps to protect personal information from misuse, interference, loss, and unauthorised access, modification or disclosure, and to destroy or de-identify it when no longer needed.

12. Complaints

If you have a privacy concern, contact our Privacy Officer at hello@cardmap.com.au first - we aim to resolve complaints within 30 days. If you are not satisfied, you may complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au or 1300 363 992.the Office of the Privacy Commissioner (OPC) at privacy.org.nz or 0800 803 909.

13. Changes to this policy

If we materially change how we handle personal information we will update this page and revise the effective date before the change takes effect.

This is a serious report. Use this form if you believe a CardMap listing led you to purchase counterfeit cards. We'll log the incident, flag the listing for review, and direct you to the right official channels (the ACCC / Scamwatch, the operator, the publisher's anti-piracy team). CardMap cannot issue refunds or compel the operator to act, but your report does help protect other users.

Important next steps you should take

Report to the ACCC: Counterfeit goods can be reported under the Australian Consumer Law. You can file a report at scamwatch.gov.au - this gives consumer protection authorities the data they need to look into it.

Contact the operator: Save your receipt and reach out via their official channels. Some operators will offer a refund or replacement where they're at fault, though CardMap can't guarantee that.

Contact the publisher's anti-piracy team: Pokémon, Wizards, Konami, BANDAI and others maintain dedicated anti-piracy contacts. Search for the game's name plus "anti-piracy contact", or check the publisher's official website.

Why this exists

Built out of frustration.

A while back I was trying to find Pokémon vending machines in Melbourne. I ended up with about fifteen tabs open - Reddit threads, Facebook groups, vague TikToks, half-broken store finders. Nobody had a real list. The information existed, but it was scattered across the entire internet.

So I started keeping one myself. Spreadsheet at first, then it grew. Friends started sending me listings. The list got long enough that it became its own thing - a directory of every trading card store, vending machine, event, and grading drop-off I could verify across Australia.

That's all this is. One place to find the hunt. No affiliate links, no algorithm deciding what you see - just the listings, organised properly, kept fresh by the community. Any sponsored placements are always clearly labelled.

If you spot a missing store, an inaccurate listing, or want to tell us about your local hidden gem - please do. The directory is only as good as the people using it.

CardMap

Built & maintained by one person

Reach me directly: hello@cardmap.com.au

What is CardMap?

CardMap is a community-built directory of Australian trading card stores, vending machines, online retailers, PSA grading drop-offs, and TCG events. We don't sell cards or run events - we help you find people who do.

Is CardMap affiliated with any retailer, publisher, or sport?

No. CardMap is an independent directory. All brand names, logos, and trade marks shown are the property of their respective owners. CardMap is not endorsed by, sponsored by, or affiliated with any of the businesses listed.

How accurate are the listings?

Listings are compiled from public sources and community contributions. We try to keep them current but stock, hours and prices can change without notice. Always call ahead or check the store's website before travelling, especially for limited or rare stock.

How do I save a store, follow a suburb, or follow a TCG?

Tap the heart icon in the top right of any listing to save it. Tap a state pill, then tap the heart on a suburb to follow it. To find these later, tap the heart in the header (next to the map icon) to open My Follows.

What is the CardHunt feature?

CardHunt lets you build a multi-stop card-shopping route. Tap "Add to CardHunt route" in any expanded listing, then open CardHunt from the header to see your route with travel times and a one-tap "Open in Google Maps" link.

What does the pricing tier ($/$$/$$$) mean?

It's a rough guide to expected price level at each listing, derived heuristically from the listing's data. The tiers are:

$ (Budget) - listings where you're likely to find at-or-near RRP pricing or active discount programs. Examples: chain retailers running multi-buy deals, online stores with frequent sales, supermarket convenience stock. Often the best place to grab booster packs and starter decks at "off the shelf" prices.

$$ (Standard) - most local game stores, most online specialists. Standard retail markup, with occasional sales and pre-order bundles. The mainstream tier - what you'd expect to pay walking into a typical card shop.

$$$ (Premium) - listings where pricing skews higher: PSA grading drop-off specialists, vintage/rare card vendors, sealed-case-volume retailers, premium event tickets, unique stock not easily found elsewhere. You're paying for scarcity, expertise, or exclusive product access.

The tier is indicative only - actual prices vary enormously by product, set, scarcity, and condition. Always confirm with the store before purchasing, especially for singles, sealed boxes, or graded cards.

You can tap a $/$$/$$$ tag on any listing to instantly filter the directory by that pricing tier - useful for budget hunts vs. premium collector trips.

How can I avoid counterfeit / fake trading cards?

Counterfeit cards are a real concern in Australia, particularly with unbranded vending machines and pop-up retail. CardMap cannot verify the authenticity of any product sold by any operator listed.

To reduce risk:

• Prefer vending machines from known brands like Pop Attack and Card Bot, which source from authorised distributors.
• Buy sealed product from authorised retailers - major chains, dedicated game stores, and established online retailers in this directory.
• Inspect cards for signs of counterfeit: poor print quality, wrong colour saturation, fuzzy text, incorrect cardstock thickness or "feel", missing or wrong holographic elements, misaligned print.
• Be sceptical of unusually low prices on rare or chase cards - if it seems too good to be true, it usually is.
• For high-value cards, prefer sellers offering authenticity guarantees or graded slabs from reputable services (PSA®, Beckett, CGC).

If you suspect counterfeit cards, report it to the operator, to the ACCC via scamwatch.gov.au, and to the publisher's anti-piracy team. You can also - we'll log it against the listing for moderation review. See the Terms of use for the full authenticity disclaimer.

What's the difference between OFFICIAL and COMMUNITY events?

OFFICIAL events are sanctioned by the game's publisher - Pokémon Company International, Wizards of the Coast, Bandai, Konami, Ravensburger (Lorcana), etc. These typically award Championship Points or qualifying credit toward higher-tier events (Regional Championships, World Championships, Flagship Battles), and prize support comes directly from the publisher. Examples: Pokémon Regional Championships, Friday Night Magic at WPN stores, Yu-Gi-Oh! OTS events.

COMMUNITY events are organised by stores, fans, or community groups independently of the publisher. These include casual drafts, trading nights, local meetups, expos, fairs, and shop-run leagues. They're often free or cheaper to enter, more relaxed, and a great entry point for new players or anyone who wants to play without competitive stakes.

Both are valuable - Official events for ranking and exclusive promo cards, Community events for socialising, learning, and finding your local scene. Tap any OFFICIAL or COMMUNITY tag on an event to filter by that kind.

What does "Where to also check" mean?

Some listings (Woolworths, Coles, 7-Eleven, service stations, newsagents) aren't dedicated TCG stores but commonly stock Pokémon and other sealed product. Stock varies wildly between individual locations. Use these as a "while you're there" check, not a planned destination.

I run a store / event. How do I claim my listing?

Tap the "Claim store" or "Claim event" button on any collapsed listing. You'll need to provide your business email (matching your store's domain), your role at the business, and your ABN. We verify each claim before granting access. Vending machine operators with multiple machines can request a single bulk claim - email hello@cardmap.com.au with your ABN and the list of machines to verify them all in one pass.

My listing is missing or wrong. How do I fix it?

Use to add a new entry, or to flag inaccurate details. Both go to our moderation queue.

Where is my data stored?

Saved listings, followed suburbs and CardHunt routes are stored locally on your device using browser localStorage. They don't sync between devices. If you clear your browser data, your follows will be lost. Submitted listings and claim requests are sent to the CardMap team for review.

Why are there ads / sponsored placements?

CardMap is free for users. Ads and sponsored placements help cover the cost of hosting, moderation, and keeping listings current. We always label sponsored content clearly and never let advertisers dictate which businesses appear in organic search results.

I have another question. How do I get in touch?

Email us at hello@cardmap.com.au - we usually reply within 2 business days. You can also use the form if you'd rather not open your mail app.
